Using Hair Tools Properly

Flat Ironing
Hair burns at approximately the same temperature as paper, which is 450 degrees. The best flat iron  is one that has a control temperature.  To prevent hair damage the setting should be between 302-338F.  When going to the salon you don't know how hot their tools are.

Once heat has damaged your hair, there is nothing you can do to permanently repair it.

At approximately 451.4F, the hair's keratin begins to melt.

Shampoo and use a moisturizing deep condition (with hydrolyzed proteins)  hair before applying any heat source.

Moisturizing Deep Conditioners (with hydrolyzed proteins) :

Tropic Isle Living Jamaican Black Castor Oil Protein Conditioner 100% Natural

Motions Professional Deep Penetrating Silk Protein Conditioner

Mane 'n Tail Deep Moisturizing Conditioner for Dry, Damaged Hair

Heat Protectants

A heat protectant should always be used when applying heat to the hair. Silicone based products like
Biosilk Silk Therapy Heat Protection Serum,
Redken Smooth Down Heat Glide and

Chi Silk Therapy, are great for protecting the hair against heat damage.

Walmart, $5.32 100% Grapeseed Oil 24oz. Great Bargain!  Pompeian (brand)

Grapeseed Oil withstands high heat.  Great to use with using heat on hair.
